Six years after Superstorm Sandy struck New York, homeowners are still trying to make repairs, hoping to be better prepared for future storms.
The hardest hit areas were along the coastline in Coney Island and Sea Gate, as homes along the water were leveled, with sand covering the street.
Many residents were left without heat or hot water.
Red Hook also saw extensive devastation and flooding.
From the Caribbean to the Northeast, 182 people were killed related to the storm.
