Remembrance ceremony held for DA Thompson
Brooklyn residents and other community members gathered Thursday to pay their respects to the late District Attorney Ken Thompson, who died Sunday from cancer.
They gathered in the same Clinton Hill space where he celebrated his election as the first African American district attorney of Brooklyn three years ago.
Speakers at the event recalled Thompson as a fearless leader, a man of strength and conviction and a soft spoken yet serious district attorney.
They said he had a vision to reform the criminal justice system.
Thompson's wake will be held Friday and his funeral on Saturday at the Christian Cultural Center in East New York.
