Rev. Al Sharpton leads march in honor of Eric Garner, others
The Rev. Al Sharpton led a march Saturday to honor those who have been killed by alleged police brutality and by police use of force.
Sharpton marched with the mother of Eric Garner and other demonstrators to Grand Army Plaza amid cries of "No justice, no peace."
Sunday marks the second anniversary of Garner's death. Officials have ruled that Garner died as a result of a chokehold used by a police officer in Staten Island.
A grand jury declined to press charges against the officer and now the case is part of a federal civil rights probe.
"I'd like to see it go to court," Sharpton says. "Clearly the civil rights of Eric Garner should have protected him from somebody continuing to choke him."
The NYPD has finished its investigation into the Garner case, but says it won't take administrative action until the federal civil rights investigation is complete.
