Wildwood Mayor Pete Byron say he is ready for next week's presidential visit.

Thousands are expected to flock to the shore town, at what is usually a quiet time of year, for President Donald Trump's Tuesday night campaign rally. The event will be held at the Wildwoods Convention Center, which holds just 7,500 people.

The Days Inn, a hotel across the street from the convention center, sold out in 36 hours. A front desk manager there tells News 12 the hotel had never seen so many online reservations come in before.

Despite the size of the venue, tens of thousands of tickets have been reserved. A ticket does not guarantee entry.

Local police met on Wednesday with the Secret Service in preparation for the rally -- the first "face-to-face" interaction local police have had with the agents, the mayor says.

Wildwood police will post traffic and parking updates to their social media pages as the event nears.
