Sentencing postponed in stabbing rampage
Sentencing has been delayed for Maksim Gelman, the man who pleaded guilty in a stabbing spree across the city that left four dead, and another four injured.
The judge delayed the sentencing because Gelman's lawyers say Gelman "wasn't ready."
Gelman pleaded guilty to the crimes after a psychiatrist concluded he couldn't plead not guilty by reason of insanity.
Gelman admitted to stabbing his stepfather to death over the use of his mother's car before fatally stabbing a female acquaintance and her mother and then running down a pedestrian in a stolen car. He was later caught after stabbing a rider on the subway.
He faces up to 100 years in prison for his crimes.
He is now scheduled to be sentenced next Wednesday.
AP wire services were used in this report.
