The Brooklyn Shoe Space in Williamsburg is allowing people to create their own shoes.
The Shoe Space teaches the public the art of creating everything from stilettos, sandals to handwoven moccasins.
Keiko Hirosue is the founder and director of the space and has been makings shoes for 15 years. Her designs are created at home.
Hirosue was inspired to create a space that would connect her with other designers and providing them with the tools and materials they need to design their own.
"Some of my friends were asking me can you share what you know I just want to make with you," says Hirosue. "So I started sharing what I know with friends and that's kind of how the classes started."
Students first learn how to get their perfect measurements. They use the tools and material provided to design their unique shoes.
Some can be made in one day, others can take as long as six days.
Hirosue says anyone can do it.
Other classes offered include how to make wallets and purses.
