A Puerto Rican relief concert Friday night brought together many talented performers to send care back to the island after the region experienced multiple earthquakes this month.
There were not only Puerto Rican artists on stage, but performers from different countries offering their talents for free to raise money for the island.
The highly anticipated 8-time Grammy award winner Eddie Palmieri closed out the show. Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. also attended the concert.
Diaz Jr., along with other Bronx politicians, will be in Hunts Point on Saturday to collect donations. They'll be sending the items back to Puerto Rico in a shipping container with money generated from the event.
"Look, we're Puerto Ricans. Even during the most challenging times, we turn to three things: music, food and faith. And that's what we have here tonight. In the Bronx, we're not the richest in the world when it comes to dollars and cents but we are the richest when it comes to heart," said Diaz Jr.
If anyone would like to donate, the event will be held on Saturday from 12 to 5 p.m. at the corner of Aldus Street and Southern Boulevard.
Organizers say they don't want people to come by with clothes, but rather blankets, pillows, flashlights and if they can -- coats, tents and sleeping bags.
