New Yorkers continued to march to demand justice and remember George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died in police custody during an arrest. 

On Wednesday, the Floyd family attorney announced that Derek Chauvin’s charges were upgraded to second-degree murder, and the other three officers involved were also arrested and charged. 

Protestors in Williamsburg held a 30 minute moment of silence Wednesday. Protesters around the world continue to demand justice for George Floyd.

News 12’s Anthony Carlo detailed more from Fordham section of the Bronx Wednesday, where looting occurred just two nights earlier.

A march was held in the Bronx to honor George Floyd.

Just two nights ago, Fordham Road saw a wave of violence and looting. Many businesses continued to stay boarded up Wednesday night as protests continue to remember and demand justice for George Floyd. 

People began to gather at 3 p.m. and slowly moved into the center of Eastern Parkway after standing on both sides of the road.

It was a peaceful protest and many were calling out George Floyd’s name as well as the name of Breonna Taylor. 

Both died as a result of police action. 

 

Protesters held up signs that say black lives matter and defund NYPD. Neighbors peeked out of windows and cheered from the sidewalk. 

The police also marched behind. 

Neighbors and local businesses also came out to chant and show their support. At the Barclays Center, News 12 was told people took a knee in memory of George Floyd.

As soon as curfew hit—many dispersed. Advocates say this is an important moment and the message needs to be heard.
