Suspected groper nabbed in Borough Park assault
Police have arrested a suspect in the sexual assault of a 10-year-old girl in Borough Park Sunday night.
Officers responded to the area near 44th Street and 10th Avenue around 8:30 Sunday following a 911 call. Authorities say the victim told them a man groped her while she was walking.
Police say they found a suspect who fit the victim's description, 23-year-old Julio Sanchez, while canvassing the area. He's charged with aggravated sexual abuse and endangering the welfare of a child.
The victim was taken to Maimonides Medical Center for observation and was later released.
The latest attack comes after 61-year-old Michael Martin was arrested last week for four sexual assaults in the area. Police say the Connecticut man assaulted a brother and sister in a Gravesend Park bathroom before following another girl into a restroom at nearby Diglio Playground.
Parents say they are being extra vigilant while with their children in the park in light of the recent attacks.
