Walk-a-thon held to save Nazareth Regional H.S.
Students and faculty at an East Flatbush high school participated in a walk-a-thon today to raise money aimed at saving their building. Education officials threatened to close Nazareth Regional High School unless it put forth a four-year plan, registered 80 freshmen and raised $700,000. March organizers say they focused on asking local businesses for help and that a nearby McDonald's agreed to donate 25 percent of each meal purchased using the "Save Naz" flyers students handed out. School officials say 98 percent of their students graduate and that 96 percent of all graduates enroll in college. Nazareth is $70,000 short of its goal, which must be reached by April 15.Students fight to keep Nazareth H.S. open
