Restaurant workers in Westport have filed a lawsuit, claiming their former bosses fired them for refusing to work an illegal 36-hour continuous shift.

In a press conference, former employees of Matsu Sushi on Jesup Road say their bosses forced them to work the shift in order to complete large delivery orders.

The former employees also say they were not paid a proper wage.

By filing the suit, workers hope they can recover their unpaid minimum wage and overtime pay for years worked at the restaurant.

“It’s not only happening to us, it happens to a lot of us,” says Zishun Ning, organizer at the Flushing Workers Center. “The wait staff and those of us forced into long hours of work, and just to mention those still working in there, inside the restaurant they’re still suffering from this type of practice.”

News 12 did attempt to speak to the Matsu Sushi's owners, but they declined to comment.
