Wedding planners and brides and grooms-to-be have suddenly been left without a caterer after a Windsor Park catering company mysteriously shut down.
News 12 is told the company Movable Feast, which handles everything from food to décor, shut down without notifying its clients or the venues it works with. Its doors are locked, and the emails and numbers posted on the front door do not work.
"We are currently attempting to clarify the status of Movable Feast,” said the Prospect Park Alliance in a statement. “In the meantime, we are working with existing clients of Movable Feast to connect them with caterers that can accommodate their event."
Some brides have even started a “Victims of Movable Feast” Facebook page, with many claiming they are missing deposits ranging from $8,000 to $13,000.
News 12 called police to find out whether the owner of the company, Jackson Berson, has been heard from or reported missing. Police said they have not heard anything.
Marcel Sager, a lawyer at Goldberg, Sager & Associates, provided some tips on what couples can do to protect themselves before getting married.
