A woman who gave birth in a taxi cab and then went viral keeps in touch with the driver who tried to get them to the hospital on time.
Ollie Marie began feeling contractions around 3 a.m. on July 13. She and her husband called a cab hoping to make the 30-minute ride to the hospital to deliver.
Despite their efforts, she ended up giving birth in the taxi to her daughter, Nyomi.
She gave birth in the backseat, and every moment was caught on the driver’s dashboard camera. The video was put online and viewed by millions.
“I was scared,” Marie says. “I’m like ‘I'm about to have a baby in a cab.’ That's all that went through my head…and then I’m like ‘I hope he don't pass out. I hope the cab driver don't panic.’"
The driver gave the parents advice and calmed them through the stressful situation. The family says they still keep in contact with the driver and are planning to meet up later this summer.
