Sen. Gillibrand pushes to secure more than $20 million for police officer child care services
22h agoSen. Kirsten Gillibrand and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams are pledging for lawmakers to crack down on illegal gun trafficking by pushing for the Hadiya Pendleton and Nyasia Pryear-Yard Gun Trafficking and Crime Prevention Act, which would make gun trafficking a federal crime.
If passed, anyone caught transferring firearms across state lines could face up to 25 years in prison.
Over the weekend, police say one person was killed and two were hospitalized in a pair of shootings on the same street in Brooklyn.
The NYPD says shots were fired on the corner of Fulton Street and Irving Place around 11 p.m. Saturday. Police say a 30-year-old man who was shot in the back was killed.
One bullet struck a car's windshield. Investigators are now checking that car for any fingerprints.
Another shooting took place at Irving Place. A 25-year-old was shot in the head and a 21-year-old was shot in the arm.
It's unclear at this time if they were shooting at each other or if it was someone else who pulled the trigger.
There is no word on their conditions.
