Five intersections in Brooklyn will be redesigned in an effort to make streets safer.
A total of $1 million in funding will be used for curb extensions, also known as "bulbouts" or "neck downs," so cars can't turn corners as quickly.
The intersection of Nostrand Avenue and Avenue Z is included among those that will receive the renovations.
Last month, 52-year-old Carol Carboni died at the intersection when she was hit by a car while crossing the road in a mobile scooter.
