A fight between two high school students turned violent on Tuesday at the Stephen T. Mather Building Arts & Craftsmanship High School in Hell’s Kitchen.
Police tell News 12 that two students believed to be minors got into an altercation that left one of them with a stab wound to the torso and the other one slashed in the face.  The incident was one of three reported in New York City high schools on Tuesday, with the other incidents happening in Queens and the Bronx.
The city Department of Education told News 12 in part in a statement:
“Our outstanding school staff and NYPD School Safety Agents immediately responded to an incident between students at the school, and the school was placed under a soft lockdown, which has now been lifted. We will be providing additional emotional supports to any student who needs it."
Sources close to the DOE say this school doesn’t have weapons scanners.  Police say both students were taken into custody and then transported to hospitals in stable condition.
