A teacher and her students at the Williamsburg Collegiate Charter School were awarded a generous prize to help fund their theater program.
Screen It, a program launched by Victoria Chatfield last year, received a $10,000 grant as the second-place winner of the Voya Unsung Heroes award.
The program allows Chatfield's students to develop story ideas into full-fledged short films.
"This is such a life changing opportunity for our theater department," Chatfield says.
Now that the program is properly funded, Chatfield hopes to have a festival at the end of the school year displaying all of the films produced by the students.
