The generosity of a group of clergy is helping the families of New York's finest.
The "2 for Blue" campaign is an initiative aimed at helping those who protect and serve. The donations of emergency blankets to police officers began in the aftermath of the shooting deaths of Detectives Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu. The two officers were killed in the line of duty in Brooklyn.
Since then, donations to precincts have been made in Staten Island, Brooklyn and the Bronx. The blankets are similar to those used for emergency disasters, such as Hurricane Sandy.
The goal of the 2 for Blue campaign is to ensure emergency blankets are delivered to every precinct throughout the city. Participants hope to reach that goal before this coming fall.
