Police are asking for the public's help to find the two men who they say stole a car with a 4-year-old boy inside in Prospect Lefferts Gardens.
Investigators said the child was not hurt.
The incident happened around 1 p.m. on Jan. 28, but police only released the information and images of the suspects on Monday.
Police said a 35-year-old woman left the child in the backseat of a 2024 Kia, while she went into a location near Bedford and Parkside avenues.
Investigators said that’s when the two thieves jumped into the running car, drove about a block down Parkside Ave., got out at Rogers Avenue, then ran off.
“I was hearing the mom scream, and she said that she was knocking on the [nearby] school; she was knocking on all the doors for help,” said Neri Meneses, who works at a bodega nearby. “I was scared. I was scared for her. I could only imagine how she felt.”
Police said the duo got away with the driver’s purse, which had a cellphone, credit cards, and 400 dollars in cash.
The NYPD said the two suspects are believed to be 18 to 20 years old and both 5’7” tall. One of the individuals had brown hair and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black pants, black shoes with white shoelaces, and a black mask. The other individual had a short black afro and was last seen wearing a black jacket, black jeans, and black shoes.
