Two more New Yorkers are dead after a Legionnaires' disease outbreak on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

The total number of deaths now stands at 11.

New York City Council Speaker Julie Menin says during a hearing next week, officials will "closely examine how this tragic outbreak occurred and what additional actions and policies are needed to better protect New Yorkers."

Legionnaires' is a serious type of pneumonia caused by bacteria that can grow in warm water systems.

People can get the disease after inhaling water droplets or mist that contain the bacteria.
