A boat fatally struck a 20-foot minke whale on Saturday in Barnegat Bay, according to officials.

The Marine Mammal Stranding Center says the crash nearly capsized the boat and resulted in a male passenger falling overboard.

Officials have stated that the whale will remain in the bay until the tide dies down on Monday.

Boaters are advised to use caution in the double creek channel and remain a minimum of 150 feet away from the carcass.
