Gov. Kathy Hochul announced the installation of 20 million heat pumps by the year 2030 at Thursday’s Climate Week event in New York City.
The governor says these heat pumps will replace oil and gas power in buildings to help eliminate carbon pollution and lessen carbon footprint. 40% of the pumps will go to disadvantaged communities.
Gov. Hochul says that after record snowfall and some of the poorest air quality in NYC history, this $200 million investment will help to fight back against climate change and help low-income communities access clean energy options.
