Over 30 different Latin restaurants across New York City will be taking part in Latin Restaurant Week, which kicks off this Friday.

Zanmi, a Haitian restaurant in the Little Caribbean neighborhood of Brooklyn, is one of the many restaurant participants in the upcoming restaurant week. Owner Wesly Simon says that his restaurant is looking forward to showing off their staple dishes like goat stew with black rice and marinated duck.

For a fixed price of $45 per person, patrons at Zanmi can get an appetizer, main course, and drink.

The slogan for Latin Restaurant Week this year is ‘Buen Provecho,’ which means Bon Appétit in Spanish. The campaign hopes to highlight local Latin flavors and invite food lovers to open up their palates.

This event also focuses on supporting restaurants that have faced new challenges such as rising food costs, labor retention, and inflation. Zanmi opened on Nostrand Avenue one month before the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, and Simon credits its endurance to the community’s support.
