Rally in Bay Ridge against possible plans to bring migrant shelter to the neighborhood

Parents, teachers, and many others in the Bay Ridge neighborhood came out to protest a potential plan to bring a migrant shelter to their area.
The protest comes in response to the growing number of migrants arriving to New York City, and community members were joined by Curtis Sliwa, an advocate and former Republican mayoral candidate who has been an active voice among many fighting against migrant shelters across different neighborhoods in Brooklyn and the city.
"We've said no to the migrants, no to the tents, no to the hotels, motels... no to the shelters for migrants," said Sliwa.
Those at the protest say this is to protect their schools, parks, and families from hundreds of strangers entering their area.
"There are certain areas that are better to potentially house them then Bay Ridge," said one community member. "Bay Ridge is very, very flooded, very packed already and especially by schools... that's the main concern for me."
The protestors have been told the potential shelter would be on Shore Road Park.
