Next-generation schools selected for new DOE pilot program
The program started in the spring and supporters say they’re excited to see what’s to come for the students who are already involved.

The New York City Department of Education has selected 20 next-generation schools across the five boroughs to participate in a rigorous educational pilot program.
All of the selected schools serve students between kindergarten through eighth grade. The program will give these students the chance to participate in a unique academic experience that focuses on academic programming and instructional leadership.
The program started in the spring and supporters say they’re excited to see what’s to come for the students who are already involved.
“This work to bring resources to our children and the communities is vital,” said NYC Schools Chancellor David Banks. “This particular $5.5 million investment in next-generation community schools is truly transformational for the academic and social-emotional achievement of all of our children.
The DOE partnered with the Robin Hood Foundation to bring this program to hundreds of students. The $5.5 million program will run for the next three years.
