Police: Cyclist, 19-year-old woman struck by a car in Bed-Stuy

According to the NYPD, the incident happened before midnight on the corner of Halsey Street and Tompkins Avenue.

A woman is in custody after police say she crashed into both a cyclist and a pedestrian overnight in Bed-Stuy.

According to the NYPD, the incident happened before midnight on the corner of Halsey Street and Tompkins Avenue. A woman driving a black BMW struck a 32-year-old man on a bike and a 19-year-old woman walking on the street.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene and said the driver was speeding. The bike rider is expected to be OK, but the 19-year-old was rushed to a hospital in critical condition.

Witnesses claimed the driver of the car tried to switch seats with her passenger following the crash. She was later seen being taken away in hand cuffs.

No other information has been revealed at this time.
