Sen. Gillibrand: $15 million going toward replacing Sandy-damaged Grand Street Bridge

New York City officials announced Tuesday that the 121-year-old Grand Street Bridge will be replaced in Queens.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand says $15 million in federal funding is going toward replacing the bridge that was severely damaged during Superstorm Sandy in 2012.
The bridge will be replaced with a new structure that is expected to be resilient against water damage from future anticipated sea level and storm surges.
The announcement also highlighted "standard width lanes, separated cycling infrastructure and wider walking paths."
Sen. Gillibrand says the funding comes from the Department of Transportation’s Promoting Resilient Operations for Transformative, Efficient, and Cost-saving Transportation (PROTECT) grant program.
