Drivers along the B15 route in Brooklyn may want to think twice before blocking a bus stop or double parking.

Starting Friday, automated camera enforcement is officially live on the B15 route, which runs through neighborhoods including Brownsville, East Flatbush and East New York before heading to JFK Airport.

The cameras are mounted on MTA buses and can record vehicles that block bus stops, illegally use bus lanes or double park along the route.

If a violation is captured, the information is reviewed by the city before a ticket is issued. Fines are mailed to the vehicle's registered owner.

The first violation carries a $50 fine. Repeat violations can increase to as much as $250.

The B15 is one of two routes added to the program Friday, along with the M31 in Manhattan.

The MTA says the goal is to keep buses moving and make service more reliable for riders. Agency officials say blocked bus stops and bus lanes can slow trips and create safety issues for passengers getting on and off buses.

The automated camera enforcement program has expanded rapidly since launching in 2024. The MTA says more than 1,900 buses are now equipped with cameras across 62 routes citywide, benefiting more than 1 million riders on a typical weekday.

The agency says some routes have seen significant improvements in travel times after camera enforcement was introduced.

Drivers traveling along the B15 route will see signs warning that the corridor is camera enforced.
