With just over a week until Passover, the Shorefront Jewish Community Council is helping lower-income families in Brooklyn properly celebrate the holiday.

This Brighton Beach food pantry handed out hundreds of pounds of Kosher foods on Thursday. Unlike most food pantries, most of their giveaways are done digitally. People order what they want on the spot instead of waiting on long lines.

“There's a lot of shame associated with food lines and the historical way that food has been accessed, so we provide this service in the most dignified way,” said Larisa Boas, executive director of the Shorefront Jewish Community Council.

With the recent rise in migrants in New York City and growing food insecurity, the pantry says that the demand for food has skyrocketed over the last few years. Boas says they’ve grown from serving 500 households per month to now serving over 2,000.
