A person of interest is in custody after the bomb squad was deployed to a building in Midwood, according to the NYPD.

Officials say they got a call about a fire inside a building on Avenue L Thursday morning. The FDNY later informed the officers about hazardous materials inside an apartment.

The building was evacuated as a precaution, and the NYPD bomb squad was called to investigate. They determined the items to be nonhazardous.
