Families devastated after learning 2 Brooklyn Catholic schools will be shutting down
Officials say the building has been a school for the past 160 years. The Diocese of Brooklyn says it is working to help families transition to nearby schools.

Parents are concerned and upset that two Catholic schools in the Diocese of Brooklyn will be closing their doors at the end of the school year.

Aneta Jaimangal is a parent of a student at Salve Regiona Catholic Academy, one of the schools that will be shutting down.
“I’m very sad. It breaks my heart to watch all these little ones leaving here and not coming back with nowhere to go,” said Jaimangal.
The school sent out a letter announcing the closure last week, and with the school year coming to a close, families and staff members are scrambling to find alternatives.
“We’re just asking for everyone to pray for our little ones. We continue to be concerned about what the transition is going to be like for them. Some of them have already come up to us and given us hugs and said we’re going to miss you,” said Iris Bodre, recruitment director at the academy.
