A tourist reportedly from Pennsylvania was stabbed on 43rd Street and Eighth Avenue near Times Square on Saturday when she was visiting the city with her daughter.

Surveillance video shared with News 12 New York shows the mother-daughter duo walking out of a souvenir shop. The suspect – who police have identified as 61-year-old Cyril Destin –sees them, stands up from his chair and stabs one of them.

Police say that victim was a 36-year-old woman who was taken to Bellevue Hospital in stable condition with a stab wound to the chest. Anwar Almery works at Port Gourmet Deli where Destin – who lives in the area – was a regular customer. The attack took place outside of the deli.

“He comes to the store and buys cigarettes. We’ve been seeing him for six months. He had a chair, he sat down in front of the store, he saw two ladies come from the gift shop, he stabbed the lady and after he was back in his chair,” Almery told News 12 New York.

Police say Destin was arrested and charged with assault and criminal possession of a weapon.
