Skaters in the borough can officially shred in the Harold Ickes Skate Park.

The new skate park is nearly 12,000 square feet, and will serve as a safe space for bikers and skaters and roller bladers.

It is high-tech in design and has BMX features, a climbing boulder, a parkour space and game tables. A $4.3 million investment transformed this patch of underutilized asphalt into a new safe space for people of all ages to enjoy.

NYC Comptroller Brad Lander says it is the perfect example of turning something unused into a "great asset" for New York City.

The park was already attracting skaters at the official opening Tuesday.

Brooklyn Borough President Antonio Reynoso says it is a great place for kids to go, be safe and get outside.
