The NYPD continues its search for a man who allegedly sexually assaulted a woman in Central Park. Last week, they released a sketch of the suspect on social media.

A source close to the NYPD informed News 12 that there has been some confusion about a suspect being in custody.

According to the source, there is a person of interest currently in custody, but he was taken in for questioning on an unrelated case. This individual is not connected to the alleged sexual assault case that took place in the park on June 24.

The incident occurred near 104th Street and West Drive. A 21-year-old woman was in the park when an unidentified individual attempted to sexually assault her. The police have been sharing a sketch of the suspect wanted in the case.

According to the police, no arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
