A day of kayaking is calling at Pier 2 in Brooklyn Bridge Park

If you are looking to beat the heat this summer, go kayaking for free at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, along with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Boathouse, offer free kayaking to the public every Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday throughout the summer. It's open to adults, and kids under the age of 18 with a parent or guardian present.

The urban water adventure draws hundreds of people every week from near and far without any prior experience needed.

With the help of a volunteer, visitors put on a life vest and try out the activity and find serenity on the East River

Kayaking at Pier 2 is popular, so make reservations through the Brooklyn Bridge Parks' website. Slots are open two weeks in advance.
