Trains are back up and running in Brooklyn after a power failure left thousands of subway commuters stuck underground Wednesday night.

The outage happened just before 5:30 p.m. amid the evening rush hour commute and impacted the A, C, F, and G creating a nightmare situation for thousands of subway riders.

Many of them posted their experience on social media showing commuters having to get off trains inside subway tunnels, then walk on the tracks to get out.

Con Edison says the cause of that service disruption was a feeder cable that went out between the Jay Street/Metrotech and Hoyt-Schermerhorn stations.

The impacted lines run throughout Brooklyn and provide service to Coney Island, Ocean Hill and Brownsville.

According to the MTA when the outage left 3,500 riders on two F trains stranded in the tunnel. Evacuations of those trains completed nearly 3 hours later.

Gov. Kathy Hochul is directing the MTA and Con Edison to do a full review of what happened calling it unacceptable.
