The Ocean Avenue Pedestrian Bridge in Sheepshead Bay is nearing the end of construction with new upgrades.
The bridge has been around since 1880. Construction on the bridge, which included a replaced walkway and handrails, began in October and is expected to finish soon.
The bridge spans from Emmons Avenue and East 19th Street.
The New York City Department of Transportation previously told News 12 that the project will cost around $1.7 million. The bridge will have $75,000 in grants going toward it.
Pedestrians like Alina say they're already happy with the upgrades.
"It's absolutely beautiful. The boardwalk is absolutely beautiful. The bridge is a beautiful color and very comfortable to walk on," said Alina.
Assemblyman Michael Novakhov told News 12 that keeping cyclists off the bridge will be a big part of preserving it and there could be increased police presence to enforce it.
