With the cost of living on the rise, families are struggling to afford even the basics – and Brooklyn community organizations are pledging to help lend a hand.

Hosted by Meta Logic Strategic Consulting, at P.S./I.S. 155, community organizers held a food pantry and giveaway for families of the school.

Parents were able to leave with bags of healthy food items, clothes, diapers and other personal items.

"My goal is to make sure that whatever we got – we share,” said Jean Regnier, founder of Meta Logic.

As the saying goes, it takes a village. This village of partners is dedicated to supporting the families of Nicholas Herkimer school and beyond.

"We realize that some important things such as toiletries and what we call personal items…A lot of times we don't see that in the pantry. So our focus has been on providing toiletries, which is very expensive,” said Glenda Barnes, of the Salvation and Restoration Church of God in Christ.

For the school community, they say an event on this scale only helps prove that the school building is not just a place for learning — but it's also a lifeline.

"As educators, we have to recognize the basic needs of our students before we begin to start the learning process,” said Arron Muller.
