A 42-year-old man riding a scooter was killed in a crash with a BMW in Midwood, police say.

It happened around 7:45 p.m. Thursday at the intersection of Avenue P and East 2nd Street. Investigators say the man on the scooter—identified as Rino El-Saieh of Brooklyn—was trying to make a left turn when he collided with a BMW heading in the opposite direction.

El-Saieh was taken to Maimonides Medical Center in critical condition but later died from his injuries, according to the NYPD.

Police say the BMW was being driven by a 17-year-old, who stayed at the scene. No charges have been filed at this time.

According to NYPD data, this is the second traffic death reported this year in the 66th Precinct, which covers parts of Midwood and Borough Park.

The crash remains under investigation.
