A Brooklyn woman is filing a lawsuit against the NYPD over claims an officer ran over her dog two summers ago.

Fanta Conde said her dog was hit by an unmarked Toyota that failed to stop on Stuyvesant and Greene avenues while she was walking her dog, Brooklyn.

"I remember we had the white signal to walk, and the car came out of nowhere,” said Fanta Conde. “I'm trying to pull my dog back, but it's too late."

By then, Brooklyn was struck by the car and bleeding profusely, from his paws up to his neck and ears.

Conde says even though time has passed since Brooklyn was hit by the car, she wants someone to be held accountable, and for her dog’s medical expenses to be paid off.

"I don't know what I said exactly, but I know I was angry,” said Conde. “I remember hitting the car and telling her to get out, but she didn't want to get out. There was a bunch of blood splattered on the bumper."

Fanta said the driver was Officer Elisa M. Ranieri. She said Ranieri did not get out of the car until other officers arrived.

Her claim of the dog running into the street off the leash was the only official statement written in a police report.

"If my dog wasn't leashed up, how could there be blood all over the leash?" said Conde.

Conde filed a claim with the city comptroller weeks after it happened.

She's already filed a lawsuit against the city, but talks for a settlement have gone silent since this past September.

"I felt like a bad parent,” said Conde. “Like a bad owner. Like, I didn't do my best to protect them. I keep saying, I wish it was me because he's innocent."

News12 reached out to the comptroller's office but has not heard back. The NYPD declined to comment.
