At least two vehicles parked in a Brownsville community were damaged by a fallen tree on Saturday.

Residents say it’s not the first time something like this has happened on East 34th Street. Two weeks ago, branches fell off a different tree on the same street – causing damage to another vehicle as it exited a driveway.

Karen M. and Peter Rennie, who have lived on the block for several years, say they’ve witnessed the tree decay happening for a while. Their hope of for new trees to be grown, and all safety concerns to be addressed.

The Parks Department did show up on Sunday morning to remove the tree. A full damage assessment will likely take some time to complete.
