Domino Park looks to continue growing as go-to for outdoor area in Brooklyn

Domino Park, which opened to the public on the Williamsburg waterfront in 2018, has quickly grown into one of Brooklyn's go-to outdoor areas - something developers hope to continue to expand.
"I really like being by the water, so it's a nice place to get away," said Charlie Blair, who works nearby.
Plenty of people said the location makes it a perfect meeting spot.
"It's like quiet, there's places to sit, it's just a nice, calm space," explained Alex Ostroff, who also works in the area.
The park was developed by Two Trees Management, and the company continues to run the space.
"We've really tried to create a destination that folks want to come to year-round seven days a week, 12 months out of the year," said Michael Lampariello, the director of Domino Park for Two Trees.
One of the major ways the company has tried to do that is by hosting more and more activities in the area.
"The best ideas that we have for programming in the park have really started with the community," Lampariello said.
While some people seek them out, others, like Blair say they just stumble into them and end up sticking around after work.
"I do really like live music, so whenever stuff like that is happening, or the movie screenings, those are pretty fun," she said.
This fall, there is something scheduled to happen almost every day.

Options include everything from fitness and dance classes, to star-gazing, and even ways to learn about the environment the park is in.
"Our vision is really to create an authentic place that people want to come to day in and day in and day out," said Lampariello. "So that means creating public programs and events that are authentic to peoples' culture and ideas of what should happen in a public space."
As part of that, the popular outdoor skating rink in Domino Square will be returning for a second year in November.
Lampariello says this year, it will have a few new features, including a birthday party room, "DJ nights, kid-family nights, all different reasons to come skate at the park."
