A Spring Valley man was sentenced to 10 years in prison after illegally possessing firearms during a violent dispute last summer.

The sentence was handed down for Anderson Alvarado-Jiminez, 21, following an incident in July involving a disagreement with a co-worker over a shared work vehicle, according to the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office.

Authorities said Alvarado-Jiminez retrieved a revolver and fired two shots into the vehicle.

He later obtained an AR-15-style rifle and fired additional rounds into the same vehicle, prosecutors said.

Two of the rounds traveled through the vehicle and into nearby occupied apartments, authorities said.

After the shooting, Alvarado-Jiminez threw the weapons into the water at Bowline Point Park in Haverstraw, according to the district attorney’s office.

He was arrested two days after the incident, prosecutors said.
