Subway station guard caught on video tapping customers with OMNY in exchange for cash

A subway station guard was caught on video tapping customers with an OMNY card in exchange for cash.

The guard, who was assigned to the 8th Avenue N-line station, was caught on video five times, appearing to accept cash from riders before allowing them in. The investigation by the MTA Inspector General found that she was also using a student OMNY card.

An investigation by the MTA Inspector General determined that the guard was also using a student OMNY card. Video of five different incidents shows the security guard accepting cash from riders.

Station agents and contracted guards are not allowed to touch cash unless it is lost property.

The guard admitted to the inspector general that she has sold OMNY taps for cash many times and claimed to be using her own card. When she was told that the card was a student OMNY card, she claimed to have found it on the street.
