A Dix Hills woman is scrambling to find new doctors as Northwell Health and Fidelis Care try to negotiate an insurance coverage agreement.

Terri Eisen, a Long Island resident, is currently enrolled in Fidelis Care. If the insurance company and Northwell can't agree by July 15, she and many other patients will lose access to their Northwell doctors.

Eisen tells us she has multiple illnesses that require specific doctors and treatments. If the organizations fail to reach an agreement, she must find new doctors, schedule appointments and ensure they can continue her current treatments — all within less than 60 days.

“That is just an onerous and unacceptable burden to put on me,” Eisen said. “Had I known in December, when I signed up with Fidelis, that less than halfway through the year they were going to drop all of my doctors from their plan, I would not have purchased my insurance with them.”

Northwell said in a statement to News 12 that “Fidelis proposed reimbursement rates that fall well below the actual cost of delivering care.”

Meanwhile, Fidelis says, “The rates Northwell is seeking significantly exceed those paid to comparable providers.”

Fidelis says they are still in active discussions.
