A sexual harassment lawsuit filed by a Greenburgh police officer against the town has been settled.

Kristine Stein said working in the department became a nightmare in her 2021 lawsuit. She said the harassment included sexual solicitations, jokes and sexual assault by a co-worker.

According to a resolution adopted by the Town Board this month, the town’s insurance carrier will pay Stein an amount not to exceed $300,000.

The town says the settlement does not constitute an admission of liability.

As part of the settlement, Stein resigned from the department.

Stein's attorneys say the settlement speaks for itself and vindicates Stein and the claims she made and sends a message that policewomen must be treated and respected as the equal law enforcement professionals that they are.
