A shooting inside a Milford home left a man dead and a woman hospitalized.
News 12 was told both people lived there.
Officers responded to the home, located at 871 East Broadway, just before 3 a.m. Wednesday.
The neighborhood is in the Fort Trumbull Beach area and down the road from Silver Sands, so it’s busy with people jogging, walking dogs and pushing kids in strollers—not the police presence that's been there all day.
“I was driving by this morning. I saw the police presence, and then I said, ‘Oh my God,’” recalled Paul Marsala, who immediately called the homeowner, his friend for over 50 years, but the woman didn’t answer.
Marsala said he soon learned why—she’d been hospitalized following a shooting.
“My late wife and she were like sisters. They grew up together in Trumbull,” Marsala told News 12.
He said the woman lives at the house with her fiancé.
“They got along well. This is quiet neighborhood. I've lived here since 1987, so I've been here for a long time. Never have any things like this go on, God forbid,” Marsala said.
But police haven't released any details about what took place.
“We heard the sirens and saw a lot of lights,” recalled Vanessa Lundin, who lives across the street and said she was woken by the police response.
Soon after, officers knocked on Lundin’s door to ask if she’d seen or heard anything, but she hadn’t.
“We're all family around here. Everyone knows everyone. The couple—they’re very nice,” Lundin shared. “They're very quiet people, friendly, say, ‘Hi,’ kind of keep to themselves.”
Investigators executed a search warrant at the home around 11 a.m. and remained on scene all day processing evidence. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner arrived just after 1 p.m.
Police told News 12 there’s no threat to the community.
