A Bronx man says years of mold in his apartment have taken a serious toll on his health and quality of life. He is now calling for action.

Hundreds of documents, photos and complaints filled the lobby of 3115 Sedgwick Ave. this week, part of an effort by tenant Tyrone Headlamb to highlight what he describes as ongoing neglect. Headlamb said he has been documenting mold conditions inside his apartment for the past six years.

"It ruined my life," Headlamb said. "I've been begging for help for years and nobody helped me."

He said the situation began affecting his health about two years ago. Headlamb described symptoms including vision issues, headaches and memory problems.

After undergoing medical testing, Headlamb said results showed mold in his system. He said he shared those findings with building management, but conditions remained unchanged.

"Over and over, I've been showing the landlord the problem and showing them how I'm sick," he said. "They never do anything about it. They have over nine empty apartments and refuse to relocate me. All they keep doing is just painting over the problem."

Headlamb said he and his son now wear masks inside their home daily due to concerns about air quality. He also reported ongoing irritation, including loss of smell and taste and throat discomfort.

For now, Headlamb said he is left living with uncertainty as he continues to push for a safe and healthy place to live.

News 12 has reached out to building management for comment and is awaiting a response.
