A ride at Adventureland in East Farmingdale was stuck on Friday evening, temporarily trapping some guests.

Suffolk fire officials say they got the call around 7:30 p.m. for reports that people were stuck on the ride Wave Twister. The people were stuck 25 feet in the air, according to fire officials.

The East Farmingdale Fire Department was on scene with one mutual aid company helping passengers down from the ride.

Suffolk police say 16 people were stuck, including a 5-year-old with their 40-year-old parent. The rest of the riders were kids between the ages of 8 and 12. The last person was rescued at 10:39 p.m.

In a statement to News 12, park spokesman Mark Smith said that the ride will remain closed in order to assess what caused the issue.

"For more than 60 years, Adventureland has enjoyed a proud record of safety and guest satisfaction. We understand the concern of the riders and their families who were involved today, and we will be working with our ride consultants to fully assess what happened. Until further review that ride will not be in service. We appreciate the dedication of the many first responder departments who skillfully assisted in getting our guests off the ride," said Smith.
