A 17-year-old boy and a 27-year-old man were injured during a shooting in Crown Heights, police say.
Gunfire erupted near Bedford Avenue and Montgomery Street just after 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The NYPD says the teen suffered a gunshot wound to the arm, while the man was shot in the arm and abdomen.
Paramedics took the victims to Kings County Hospital, where they are both expected to recover, according to police.
Investigators say the gunman was dressed in all black and took off running westbound on Montgomery Street after opening fire.
Officers quickly established a crime scene, where a shoe was seen lying on the sidewalk in front of a store.
According to the NYPD, it does not appear that either of the victims were bystanders.
People in this neighborhood tell News 12 they see police around all the time, yet the shootings, stabbings and fights don’t seem to stop.
“I hear the shots in my house,” said a woman who’s lived in Ebbets Field apartments for the past 23 years. “You can feel the vibration of the shots high up there. And that's just the dynamics of the area, unfortunately. Police have been posted out here, maybe since May. I've seen the 128 [precinct], I've seen the 83. I see the 69. All precincts are in this area for us. If they are that brave to still shoot while the officers are lurking in the area, that means that their presence is not really being bothered by them. If they want to get you, they’re going to get you.”
Right outside of Ebbets Field apartments is where the shooting took place, a location that News 12 has shown up to several times.
The most recent time was in March when a 74-year-old woman was stabbed to death in her own apartment. And a man was attacked with a baseball bat inside their parking garage in December.
